Bonneville Freshman basketball over Hillcrest

Last time we played these guys they beat us by 1 point in overtime.

Our strategy this time was to actually play defense.

One of our players said you know why we are winning this time don't you. I said no why. Because we are playing defense.

Who would have thought they would finally get it. Making it hard for your opponent to score makes it easier for you to win even when points are limited.

The good thing about the basketball teams in this area is you really see defensive struggles.

We have two more games in the Parks and Rec league. Blackfoot is really good this year and so is Rigby.

The Freshman boys are steadily improving.

Coaching the Bonneville Freshman Boys' Basketball

We started playing in the Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation League on Saturday 10/25/08.

We only had five players since our point guard broke his hand playing football.

Our players got pretty tired pretty fast, and so we will have to recruit at least two more kids for subs.

We played Madison and they only beat us by 12. They had 9 players and rotated them quite a bit, so we were playing against fresh legs.

We have quite a few things to work on, but one the bright spots was that we hit at least six three-pointers.

The flex offense didn't seem to work really well. We also seemed to do better in a man defense.

We have practice again on Monday night, and I will be thinking of some drills to help improve these kids.

They really do have potential. They have raw talent and could be great, with hours of practice.

That is it for now. http://www.bonnevillebees.com/

SE Idaho Sports

One of the best things in my opinion in SE Idaho is the fact that we have so many high schools within 30 minutes of each other.

The bigger schools are Bonneville, Hillcrest, Idaho Falls, Skyline, Madison, Blackfoot, and Rigby.

Some of the smaller schools include: Ririe, Shelley, Mud lake, Firth, Sugar, and St Anthony.

If you love sports, or have kids who love to play, this is the valley you want to live in.

Because Idaho Falls is centrally located, you can see quite a few games without hardly any travel time at all.

My kids currently go to Bonneville High School.
